In this issue we have an incredible piece on page 14 of our gallery by three year old Jessica Jones, whose mum is a textile artist. We absolutely love the fact that children so young are able to, and enjoy, learning this important life skill and find pleasure in it.
This issue we explore the magic of free motion embroidery thanks to Amanda Hartland and her incredibly realistic work on our gorgeous cover – we love her ability to transport a viewer to a moment in time through stitch. We also take a look at the wonderful wild felt creations of Mandy Wall; discover how Reena Lee Harwood’s work for the #bejane movement is a stark reminder of the plight of endangered animals; and explore more fabulous figures in the RSN’s latest exhibition. There are also gorgeous projects to try – an embroidered botanical monogram (the perfect gift for any and all), a crocheted giraffe, and a felt hare portrait. Enjoy!
