This summer’s Carousel Textile Artists show is called London Threads because each member of the 20-strong group has taken inspiration from experiences that connect her to the capital.
Some have focused on the hidden, the invisible, while others have unpicked familiar images of the cityscape, homed in on history, or pieced together personal memories into their work.
Carousel artists have used intricate stitchery, screen-printed images, hand-weaving, dyeing, patchwork, fabric manipulation and construction to express their ideas about aspects of London. Visitors will find images of animals, birds, plants and rivers, as well as the iconic buildings and streets, both around the Barbican and further afield.
This is Carousel Textile Artists’ third show in the Barbican Library. For more about the group and its past shows here and elsewhere, please visit www.carouseltextileart.org.uk
Barbican Library opening hours: from 9.30am Mon-Sat; closing times vary: Mon and Wed to 5.30pm, Tue and Thur to 7.30pm, Fri to 2pm, Sat to 4.30pm. Closed Sunday.
